Filling Bird is provided by North Star Gate. This policy covers the iPhone app, optional sync service, and related web features.
Information We Handle
Account information: your email address, display name, account identifiers, and authentication records when you use NSG ID. Location and map activity: precise location, background location updates, recorded route points, visited map cells and areas, saved places, and check-ins when you enable location features. Photos and other content: photos, place names, descriptions, categories, team information, and join requests that you create or upload. Fitness information: daily step counts and motion activity classifications, such as walking, when you grant Motion & Fitness access. The app combines motion activity with location records to determine walking progress and can review recent activity history to recover delayed classifications. Device and technical information: app and build version, device type and name, operating-system version, device registration identifiers, request timestamps, IP address, and service logs. Support information: messages you send for troubleshooting. When detailed file logging is enabled, the app records diagnostic events. Available runtime logs are automatically uploaded while you are signed in, separately from the server-sync setting. Logs can include location and activity details needed to investigate problems.
How We Use Information
We use this information to provide maps, route recording, visited-area progress, saved places, photos, badges, leaderboards, teams, step-count features, account access, optional device sync and recovery, service security, version compatibility, and customer support.
On-Device Storage and Optional Sync
Filling Bird stores map progress, routes, saved places, settings, and photos on your device. If you sign in and enable server sync, the app sends supported data to North Star Gate servers so it can be restored and used across your devices. Disabling sync stops future progress-sync requests but does not automatically delete information already stored on the server.
Sharing and Visibility
Your display name and selected progress totals may appear in public leaderboards. Team names, membership information, and shared progress are visible to the relevant team members. Service providers may process information only as needed to operate authentication, hosting, maps, routing, search, and support. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect users, the service, or our rights. Searchable team names, descriptions and summaries can be viewed without signing in. Public teams can expose shared territory locations. Private searchable teams can show country and city summaries without exact territory coordinates. A private contribution can become visible to the team when it expands territory formed by sharing members.
Maps and Third-Party Services
Map display, search, routing, geocoding, and boundary features may send search terms, coordinates, IP addresses, and technical request information to providers such as Mapbox, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, and Google Places. NSG ID processes account sign-in information. These providers handle information under their own privacy policies.
Advertising and Tracking
We do not sell your personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Your Choices
You can control location, background location, camera, photo-library, and Motion & Fitness permissions in iOS Settings. You can use Filling Bird without enabling server sync. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account. We may retain limited information when required for security, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
Security and Retention
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information. We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security and backups, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

We may update this policy as Filling Bird changes. The date above shows when the policy was last revised.
