At Otus, we believe your data belongs to you. We've designed our app from the ground up with privacy as a core principle.

Data Collection and Storage

What We DON'T Collect

• We do not collect any personal information
• We do not track your reading habits
• We do not share or sell your data to third parties
• We do not use analytics or tracking services
• We do not require an account or login
• We do not sync your data to our servers

What Data Stays on Your Device

All data in Otus is stored locally on your device using SwiftData:

• RSS feed subscriptions and categories
• Article content and metadata
• Your reading history, bookmarks, and preferences
• Article scores and ranking data
• Any custom settings you configure

This data never leaves your device and is protected by iOS security features, including device encryption and iCloud backup (if you have enabled it).

Network Usage

RSS Feed Fetching

Otus connects to the internet only to:

• Fetch RSS feeds from the sources you subscribe to
• Download article content when you request it
• Discover RSS feeds when you add a new website

These connections are made directly from your device to the feed sources. We do not proxy or monitor these requests.

Third-Party Services

Otus does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app uses only Apple's native frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData) which do not transmit data to external services.

Content Extraction

When you read an article, Otus uses Readability.js to extract clean content. This processing happens entirely on your device. The original web pages you visit are loaded directly from their publishers without any intermediary.

iCloud Backup

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, iOS may automatically back up Otus data to your personal iCloud account. This is controlled by your iOS settings, not by Otus. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

You can manage iCloud Backup in: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups

Children's Privacy

Otus does not collect any data, making it safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:

• Deleting articles, feeds, or categories within the app
• Deleting the Otus app from your device

Deleting the app removes all associated data from your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
